My bike and trailer at a downtown MAX station early enough for it to still be dark out? Must be the start of a glorious new bike adventure!
Since I had this last week off, I decided to get the heck out of Portland–first up to Astoria, which I’ve always meant to go visit, then down the coast and back via Tillamook.

I left Portland on the MAX at 6:45 so as to not hinder the normal train commuters with the extra space required by my trailer. 45 minutes later, I was in Hillsboro, the end of the line and the beginning of a rather lovely sunny day. As I pedaled off toward Banks, the sun was burning off the early morning mist:
And pretty soon, it was full-on sunny out! And we all know that if a stasia sees her shadow, it means that it’s a lovely day to be outside!:)
And a lovely day it was indeed. I’ll write about the route itself in another post, but it was a grand beginning to a few days of mini-adventure:)
