The wanderlust, always the wanderlust…

I’m going a little stir-crazy over here in Portland-land. Despite the amazing green spaces here, despite being able to run in the sort-of woods, despite being able to bike everywhere, despite my job(s) that let me spend almost all of my time outside — despite all that, I am so fricken ready to get the heck out of dodge for a while.

It’s possible I am certifiably crazy. I acknowledge that. But I’m ready for some quiet, open, empty spaces, some stars at night, some distance from normal life, some meditative pedaling and some time with no cell reception. I’m ready — past ready — to disappear again.

waterfront cherry blossoms(it’s lovely, but by itself it’s not enough)

Happily, I just learned from a super awesome bikey lady friend of mine that there are bus options that make possible the kind of trip I’ve been wanting to do for a while but never felt like I had enough consecutive time off for. Pacific Crest Bus Lines, partnering with both Amtrak and Greyhound, will take you all over southern/eastern OR, and will take your bike as well. Heck. Yes.

Now, I just have to wait until June. I can make it. I can make it. I can make it. :)

  2. Stacey Pearson!

Visit the Utah desert! No cell reception, lots of red sand, and soooo many stars. Make a stop in SLC first. I’ll put our bikes on my car and then we’ll adventure South.

    • Stacey Pearson!! Heck yeah!! :)

I would love to visit the Utah desert (in fact, I was just telling someone that maybe my favorite bike trip ever was when I biked through southern Utah:) We should definitely make this or some other such desert adventure happen. What’s it like down there in September?

Aww, so nice to hear from you!
