The craziest weather days are the best days for biking:)

Despite the forecast and the school cancellations, it never really got around to much snow in our neighborhood today — but we sure did get a lot of freezing rain. And though that kind of weather makes it so super easy to cuddle inside with tea and blankets, it’s also some of the best weather for adventure.

I certainly enjoyed some indoor, cozy time today too. But the really life-affirming parts of the day were not my tea or my book. They were the long, brisk run over Mt Tabor’s frozen trails and, later, the ride through East Portland where I got home completely encased in a sheet of ice. heh. I’ve never had my hair freeze to my jacket like that before (ouch!).

Maybe it sounds insane, but that is the kind of shit I love — when you’re out in the world, experiencing the crazy, smiling like a maniac at the other people you see, few and far between. It’s the kind of thing that makes me really appreciate the cozy-house feel when I get back to it, and the kind of thing that makes me feel alive to the world, a small part of this amazing, overwhelming place we call home.

So psyched!!! :)

And you? Did you, dear reader, get out to play today?:)

  1. I 100% get you on this. Though i did not venture out in the freezing rain on that particular day, I’m usually the only other biker out there – crazy smiling right back atcha. :) There’s little or nothing that makes you feel more capable, adventurous, and alive than a ride on the worse weather days.

    • “There’s little or nothing that makes you feel more capable, adventurous, and alive than a ride on the worse weather days.” YES! :) Exactly what I was trying to say, but way more concise and well-put:)

      Big smiles for you:)
